Perdigón Nymph
The Perdigón is the competition world's dart - a resin-slicked, tungsten-headed sliver that cuts through current to the bottom faster than anything soft and scruffy can.
Spanish and French competition anglers, who count fish for a living, evolved the Perdigón ('pellet') around one insight: in fast water, TIME IN THE ZONE beats realism. No hackle, no dubbing - just a smooth resin body over bright tinsel, a tungsten bead, and a fall rate that puts it on the bottom while fluffier nymphs are still parachuting.
What it imitates
A generic mayfly-ish nymph reduced to profile and shine - and above all, it imitates BEING DEEP within a meter of drift.

Fast, deep, short-drift water; Euro-nymphing rigs everywhere; heavily fished rivers where trout see everything slow and scruffy.
How to fish it
Euro/tight-line: point-fly duty, ticking bottom, contact through the sighter, strike on anything. Also excellent as a fast-sinking dropper under an indicator.

Common mistakes
Fishing it under a dry in shallow calm water (it plummets past the fish), and ignoring the hot-spot versions out of naturalism - the pink collar keeps winning medals.
