Method Feeder Rig

The method feeder is baiting and rigging fused into one cast: a flat-bottomed frame gets a handful of sticky groundbait pressed around it, your short hooklink and bait tucked into the parcel. On the bottom the ball dissolves into a spread of feed with the hookbait sitting dead-center - carp mopping the freebies suck in the trap. Commercial-fishery Britain runs on it; every carp, tench and big bream lake benefits.

What it is & why it works

An inline flat feeder on the main line, a 10 cm hooklink, and moulded method mix hiding hookbait inside. The fish eats its way to your bait; the semi-fixed feeder weight pricks the hook - self-hooking by design.

When to use it

Stillwater carp/tench/bream year-round, commercial pools, any 'build a spot and sit on it' approach - especially where casting accuracy can re-hit the same dinner plate.

How to set it up

Thread the inline feeder, buffer bead, tie a short (7-12 cm) braid hooklink with a banded pellet, mini-boilie or corn; press a layer of method mix into the mould, lay hookbait on, cap with more mix, eject the parcel.

Fishing it

Cast to a marked spot (clip up for repeatability), tighten gently, rod on alarm/quiver. Takes wrench the tip round - lift, the feeder's done the setting.

Variations & sizing

Hybrid/banjo feeders for pastes; pellet-cone variants; bigger open-enders when you want more feed down.

Common mistakes

Long hooklinks (kills the self-hook), sloppy wet mix exploding on the cast, and scattering casts everywhere - the method is accuracy compounding into a feeding spot.
